Spina Bifida is a birth defect occurring in the first month of the pregnancy, before most women know they are pregnant. It results in permanent damage to the spinal column and nervous system of the child. Hydrocephalus is a condition where fluid accumulates in the brain cavities, causing the veins to swell and brain damage.
